If you asked me to name some of the most impressive emerging leaders I have met in the last 2 years, I would tell you Ty Lewis is on that list. We initially connected here on LinkedIn through mutual professional contacts, then as he traveled through my area, we would meet for coffee and as I learned his story, saw his intellect and determination, I knew he was someone exceptional. Since that time, as we have met frequently and I have watched him engage our community (after relocating to my area). I recently invited him to speak on an emerging leaders panel at my companies annual conference in October 2024. The Converge Conference in Kankakee was an event that Ty attended last year (before he even moved to the area) and I knew I wanted to involve him as a speaker this year. I met Ty Lewis in August of 2022. I was impressed as Ty stood on the stage in front of 700+ people and he shared his story. Folks were excited and proud to hear that Ty had just recently graduated from college but I believe they were most inspired when he shared about the impact that the community had on him even after he graduated from college. Ty's ability to motivate and inspire others is impressive. He is mature beyond his years. What impressed me the most was talking to him one-on-one after his message to the staff. Ty made it clear to me that part of his life's purpose is to reach back and pull up others. He wants to share his personal story so that folks, especially students and young people, will know they are not alone. I write this as we observe and remember Rev.
